So you’ve made it through the first steps of the ordering process. You have gleaned what kind of gear you want, you’ve figured out how you want it made, and you’ve settled on a budget that works for you and your team. So now you find yourself asking, what next? In my opinion, the next part is the fun part. Next comes the design process!
Similar to the first part of our ordering tips series, the first step in the design process is simply knowing what you want. It can be as simple as a crude drawing on the back of a napkin or as complex as full fledged art already made in Adobe Illustrator. Knowing if you want certain colors included (maybe school colors?), a classic style, or modern themes can help your designer work quickly and efficiently to get your gear down the line of the design process.
Most orders, though, start with a conversation between the customer and one of our sales representatives who then communicates with the designer about the vision the customer has for their gear. It is then up to the designer to make that vision come to life. We always like to start with a short sleeve jersey and go from there. Then you will work back and forth with your spin rep and the designer as your jersey goes through various mockups, tweaks, and changes until it is exactly what you had in mind.
Once all your designs are nearly complete, your Spin representative will send you a final draft of each and every piece of gear to assure that everything is to your liking before we begin the production process.
Designing gear can be challenging but that is why our expert designers and representatives are there to help you with any questions, concerns, or fun ideas you might have when it comes to your kit.
Below I will place some specific information to keep in mind when working through the design process.
- We offer up to 3 hours of free design time with every order.
- For those of you with finalized designs, please send our way in either EPS, AI, or PDF files with the artwork being vector and editable.
- Our Spin representatives are experts in both USAU and WFDF uniform requirements but in case you need to read up on what you need to be within the rules, check out our uniform requirements blog post.
- Finally, check out our page on art requirements and templates to help you get started if you want to have a hand in creating your gear!
